CHITHARAL MALAIKOVIL
Hello guys, In this Post I'll share some information and images about Chitharal Malaikovil.
History :
The Chitharal Jain Monuments; also known as Chitharal Malai Kovil (literally Temple on the Hill), Chitharal Cave Temple or Bhagwathi Temple, Chitharal; are situated on the Thiruchanattu Malai (Thiruchanattu hillocks) near Chitharal village, Kanyakumari district, Tamil Nadu, India. Chitharal hills are locally known as Chokkanthoongi Hills.
There are two monuments. The earlier rock-cut Jain structure of beads with inscriptions and drip-ledges is the earliest Jain monument in the southernmost part of India which was from first century BC to sixth century AD.

Chitharal Malaikovil is situated near to my home ( about 200m ) . Sometimes we used to go daily morning as jogging.
After 10 or 20 mins you can reach temple with tiredness and then you will experience one of the most beautiful sceneries of our Kanyakumari 😊
It is one of the best place to Feel the SUNRISE as well as SUNSET and also it is one of the best places to visit in Kanyakumari
If you are willing to visit Chitharal Malaikovil , Iam suggesting you to come morning or Evening .
But please don't drop any plastics or waste materials.
You can see some Historical Inscription ( Kalvettu ) and also you can see more and more Inscription ( Kalvettu ) on the way to the mountain and the Jain Monument by our people 😬 ( writing their loved ones name in every rocks )
My Grandfather told many things about this mountain , maybe it will be rumours or real !! ( I don't know )
One of interesting rumour is " Long time ago one priest catch a fish from the pond which is near to the temple and bring it to his house and prepared to cook . He cuts the fish into two parts and starts cooking it . After some seconds the fish starts beating inside the bowl. Then the priest got scared and he rans with the pieces of fish and threw it in the same pond where he catches the fish. Then the next day the priest died . Some peoples saying that the fish is still there in the pond with the cut marks "
Guys I don't know whether it is real or not😁.
I'll update more things about this mountain later .
